Ujjayi is a great breathing exercise; not only does it enhance your Hatha practice but it is also a way to link your movement with breath during Vinyasa. Keep in mind that even though you may not be a yogi, these exercises are for you too! I rarely participate in Vinyasa flow classes due to my injuries, and tend to prefer restorative gentle practice. As far as everyday application, Ujjayi is beneficial for people suffering from sinus pressure and those seeking relief from frequent headaches. It can release tension in your body, and we could all benefit from that. Life can get busy- and taking a moment for yourself is important. Breathe.
